I have just moved into a new house with two other people, and it really is a great and exciting time. Collating all of our belongings means that I now have more DVD's, cutlery, and pans than I know what to do with. But the one thing that none of us have but all of us want is an ottoman.
When I come home at the end of a long day of sitting and typing, I want to be able to sit back and put my feet back. My roommates agree, an ottoman or two would be a great addition to our new place, but how to go about buying one?
The first thing to consider is what type of ottoman to get, and what it will be used for. Some ottomans are filled with small Styrofoam beads, so the ottoman will shape itself around the feet that are resting on it. There are others that are basically boxes covered with delightfully soft fabrics, so you get an extra storage device. It's a great place to hide your valuables, like your jewellery or favourite flavoured chips.
There are many places that have ottomans for sale, they are hugely popular. A great place to start will be a small local furniture store that sources from local materials before it imports from overseas. This keeps the money in our own country, and gives us a great place to rest our feet.
But if we can't find the right ottoman there, we'll go look at second hand stores. Because we'll be buying them separately, it doesn't matter if they don't match each other, because when we move out we'll be taking our own with us. if we want a matching set then we would go to a big furniture store and buy two or three at once.
Ottomans are great additions for any household, and will be a great one for mine.
